Update time...!

Righty, 's been a month since I last updated the blog, so it must be about time... We've been taking things a bit easier on the boat, especially in the rubbish weather we've been having, but now things are warming up a little, and hopefully drying out, we can get on with it a bit more.

To start with, there's been the start of a big visual change inside, with Kate sanding and painting. We're going for a decent trade oil-based undercoat over the ply to start with, and we're looking to use an eggshell finish on top.

It's made quite a difference to the light inside...

Another big thing has been the water tank. That water tank - the self-filling one... I mentioned that we were going to use Vactan to rust convert it, after cleaning it all out. Well, the Vactan failed, but mostly likely it was my fault, as it was -8 or so the first night, and it only works above 5deg.

So instead, we reverted to old-ship technology and have tried a cement wash. This's just a loose cement slurry, painted on with rollers, brushes or even a broom if you've a ship-sized tank. We added both a waterproofing, and frostproofing admixture to it, to ensure it set in a timely way.

It's, so far, worked a treat, and after a good rinse out afterwards, we now have clean, drinkable water.

IKEA and their crazy european waste systems did fox me a little while plumbing the basin in though!

The bathroom has moved on somewhat too, as I've finally gotten around to tiling around the bath and basin, with the bargain basement fake-granite tiles:

Today, I've grouted these with a Mapei flexible black grout, which has worked really well, I reckon...

Coming together quite well, finally - just needs some paint and a bath panel now!

Next targets on our list are lots and lots of painting, a bit more tiling in the kitchen, and finishing some outstanding half-done tasks like the rest of the bamboo floor in the bedroom (and kitchen, under-plinth) and creating the wardrobe and electricity cupboard.

We'll get there, slow and steady! :)
